We Love Our “Special Friends”
Special Friends Day Camp
Every year, since 1997, Saint Mark hosts a three-day Day Camp for children with special needs who live in our community. Saint Mark youth are paired one-on- one with a special needs child. These children get to go to the movie, go on a boat ride, go swimming and enjoy other fun activities with their partners and peers. This gives the parents of these children three days of respite. This has been a very successful annual event with 50 or more children participating. The pictures below will give you just a taste of our Special Friends Day Camp. For more information, or to volunteer, contact Lee Ann Parker.
Special Friends Sunday School Class
On Sunday mornings, Saint Mark offers a Special Friends Sunday School Class for special needs adults. The small class meets in the office of the Director of Children’s Ministries.
Saint Mark strives to be accessible to persons with special needs and disabilities. Where there are steps to enter the building, we also have wheelchair ramps. We have an elevator located in our atrium that travels to all three floors of our facilities, so there is no space in the church that is not accessible to persons with disabilities.
How Can We Help You?
